I'm going to state this very clearly, because it seems everyone forgets this:

Elites. Are. Not. Humans.

Elites do not have the same social structures as humans. They probably don't have tear ducts. They certainly wouldn't name their child "Chimera," a word in English which comes from Greek. The female certainly wouldn't necessarily stay alive long enough to name her offspring before "closing her eyes peacefully." We don't even know how their reproductive process works: for all we know, it could be the male with the uterus, the female with the penis and they give birth by vomiting their offspring up.

Consider this. (Also remember this: show, don't tell.)

As a Covenant POV writer, I was quite disappointed. Unfortunately, most people that write science fiction nowadays is written with the anthropological perspective, meaning, the alien behaviors mimic our own human memories, anecdotes, parables, and customs. You have to get past that human perspective and develop something completely different and alien; we know nothing about aliens! You have to delve deeper. Trust me, a good Covenant POV story takes a very long time to write; I know this from experience.
