I like this. Short and sweet. I'm particularly partial to anything Halo 2, being my favorite of the trilogy and probably the least explored in both fics and official stuff. And I love whenever a face is put to the marines you find in-game (why I'm one of the few that likes The Flood...).
Anyways, nice work. _________________

Halo 2's my favorite game too, and I loved The Flood. Dietz is one of my favorite authors; I'm actually reading his Starcraft novel "Heaven's Devils" right now.
But ya, thanks for the comment. I got the inspiration from playing Halo 2's Gravemind level. I always wondered why there were marines down there: who were they, how did they get here, why are they still alive. But once I sat down to write this, I felt that a narration like that would be too distant and detached, so I wrote a more traditional dialogue.
Or something. |
