Red is typically spelling, yeah, and green is grammar. MS Word sees grammar mistakes where there are none a lot of the time, and doesn't have a lot of words in its spellchecker. As long as it's readable, not completely mangled, and makes sense, it should be okay.

The occasional small grammatical error won't reflect poorly on the author; we've all made that one stupid little mistake that we didn't catch until too late. Uh-oh. I've often been told my sentences are too complex and I use more commas than I should.

Hey, don't knock on comma-whoring. I love commas. And adjectives, and adverbs, and all those things so-called "writing teachers" say are bad.

Well, this isn't going to make it in on time. Laughing I woke up at about 2:00 and have been busy all day.

Good luck to those of you who are able to plan better than myself!

There's an easy answer to this:

YOU'RE A WHORE.

But I do agree that rules were made to be broken. So long as the commas are in sensible places, even if there are a lot of them, it'll be okay.

So sorry guys, I just re-read my story and I found a suprising amount of typos. Will they matter too much? It's readable, but I'm not sure if it would be a bit jarring.

Give them time, there's a lot of entries to go through, and it's only one and a bit days since the end of the contest.

Well, I got my submission on time, but I've a question: what happens to all the stories that do not win? I know what the top four get; do all the rest just get added to the FF archive?

This is my first time on these forums and I'm trying to get used to all of it still. Simply curious what will happen to the story I wrote (it's the first I've ever publicly dropped for judgment, ever...). I'm hoping that if it doesn't do well, I'll be able to get some feedback on it. Or explain my crazy thought patterns that created it. 'Cause I'm afraid to go back and nit pick it myself, especially since I now distinctly remember that I forgot to add in a tiny, yet semi-crucial, tid-bit....

We won't be doing anything with the pieces that don't win, but personally, I'd encourage everyone to submit it after the fact to the FF archive. There are a lot of entries I've seen that aren't quite good enough to win, but still have a lot of potential.

Alright, I guess I'll be doing that then.

I officially hate contests now, though. The waiting... I can't stand it... Sad

The judges are currently picking the winners and making an overall consesus of winners. Be patient; we've taken the time to read and review your story, give us time to make a list.
