Excellent story, Andres. This was a fascinating take on Covenant culture, building greater depth on the last two chapters. The relationship between 'Wanname and Yap was a fascinating one. The unusual quality of their relationship was made explicit to the reader by the subordinate glances of 'Wanname's soldiers, yet it is also one which is perfectly justified within the story. The reactions of the soldiers, meanwhile, was itself interesting, showing the paradox of their adherence to hierarchy; they hate that their commander hobnobs with a lame grunt, yet his rank precludes their dissent. Very nice.
The religious character of the Covenant, well known in canon, was expanded upon well here. The notion of ritual sacrifice to the Forerunner seems to be in character with what we know of them. The position of Prima Ultra - held by a Grunt - was an interesting one, and I'd love to find out more about it as the series goes on. The Roman influence, in both the reference to Covenant divions as "Legions" and the Latin title of the "Prima Ultra" added a nice reference as well.
Great job. This was a really good read.

Excellent fic, Andres. It's always nice to see Elites respecting the humans prior to Halo 3. The Grunt equivalent of a First Sergeant or senior enlisted man was a cool idea, one I'm surprised no one's thought of before. _________________ Sir Isaac Newton is the DEADLIEST SON OF A BITCH IN SPACE!

Thanks Arthur! Best review I have gotten at HBO and yes, all of the description regarding the Covenant culture had that specific goal, the disgust it causes a renowned Flied Master.
One thing:

I was expecting that you would appreciate that, since you made a similar remark before, so thanks. The Prima Ultra, however, is not Yap the Grunt, but another Sangheili, Uttics, who participates heavily on the dialogue at the beginning of the story. |

Oops... sorry Andres. That's my fault; I must have blurred the conversation with Uttics and Yap in my first reading. That the Prima Ultra is a Sangheili makes a good deal more sense, heh.
Looking forward to more.

I was a little confused here at first. I was expecting the one you sent me a few months back. Nice read, though, and I like 'Wanamee as a character. Funnily enough, I had an Elite of the same name in a fic I never finished long before I started posting here.
Anyways, when I finish the Fic Pick I'll give a bit more of what I though of this. *hinthint* _________________
