Jarhead
I liked this, Arch, it's been a while since I've read something like this. |

| Very nice. I like how the guy gives all his faintly-Zen interludes. |

Nice dude! I couldn't help thinking of Full Metal Jacket while reading it. But man i love the originality of this one and I also loved the length. Not too long as to be tedious, but also not too short to cut the reader off prematurely.
Outstanding! I loved it.

Well, the length is kind of illusionary: the thing is barely over the minimum word count! _________________ When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.

Great form, great writing style. The desperate struggle interspersed with the pontifications of his rifle was a very effective story format. His ponderings of an afterlife in the midst of battle was well done and made all the more potent as you made clear the inevitability of his imminent discovery of the truth. It was all made very relevant and came together very nicely.
Excellent job.
