Intriguing. I'm thinking that they went behind the moon, changed course, and headed out for the stars, deciding to be the first humans to reach another solar system. They dragged a planetoid full of rations and zero-G exercise equipment with them, that they had secretly hidden on the dark side of the moon on earlier missions.

Or they just get plowed into Slipspace like comets occasionally do, apparently.

At any rate, I'm glad to see more of your work. Your Commander series is top-notch, and your other work is great, too. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.

indeed, personally i think that they delved into Hyperspace, a point of speed so fast that time itself slows around you as you delve into space. thus going into the future and meeting the UNSC.

Very nice, I was disappointed by the length of this, though, would have liked to keep reading. Also, the italics were a bit overused, but nonetheless, the story was good.

It's meant to be a prologue, so I didn't want it to just be a short chapter...it was a bit of historical commentary, too, so I wanted to set it apart from the rest of the story. Italics are the best way I could think of to do that. Chapter 1 will be out this update.
