| Ah, good. A story laying out the basic guidelines. That should be helpful. Somebody put a "ROOKIES READ THIS" sign next to the title of this. |

Quiet down, boys...
Anyway, this is an excellent thing to post. Now I can finish my story, and when it somes out, people won't yell at me as much!! That's always good.
And I agree that Marines are not Rambo. Oh my god, the number of times I've seen that type of story... phew.
Also, the fact that Even Sangheili and Jiralhanae can Break is a nice thing to point out... but I have yet to see a single story where one of them is afraid...
Anyway, this should go in the Fan Fiction Styles or whatever that thread is (I don't know, I've never read it! Geez, give me a break!)
Nice Job |

I agreed on most of these things, but most of 'em I just recognized as being generic. Some things I didn't agree on; but then again, I'm taking this was for more of the people who're beginning here (or can't get their characters right).
Some people may find this more useful than I did, but that's just me. Good job, keep it up. |

| Interesting, but i dont agree with your description of the chief. Although the chief does get scared he would definatly not break down. In Halo: The Flood the cheif thought that his entire squad had been killed on Reach. Even when he had time to rest he clearly did not break down. When he first saw a hunter in Halo: The fall of Reach he acknowledged his fear and pushed it away from his mind. The reason master chief can never break down is because he has never been defeted, and if he was defeted he wouldnt survive for long enough to break down. Other than the MC thing i liked it, very informative. |

I would have to disagree with you there, rikku. MC can break down, but not in the way most people do. He can be terrified, like he was by the Flood, and anyone who can be terrified can obviously break down once a certain emotional point is reached. He is not superman.
Anyway, I liked it. The part where Chief yelled 'Why was I created to destroy' seemed kinda far-fetched to me, but I'll let that one slide. _________________ Eighty percent of human wisdom is the desire to not butt into other peoples' business, and the other twenty percent doesn't matter. |

Number 7 rule-I get sick and tired of people,(Not veterans, mostly new kids, or some people that just don't learn.) writing about Marines during their first time in combat, acting as if they've seen the Covenant before.
I don't know why, but it just bugs me. When a Marine comes into combat for the first time against the Covenant, they should have some sort of reaction to that, besides just saying "Oh look, an alien, I see those everyday, I better just shoot it." People seem to forget that the Covenant is an alien race. If I were a Marine, and I'd just seen a Grunt or Jackle or Elite. I'd probably crap myself, or just be to stunned for words, despite being trained to know what they looked like.
How would you feel if an eight foot lizard came into your house and tried to shoot you.
Ok I think I've made myself look stupid enough for now. |
