Usually you just save the file in Microsoft Word, then go to your email, create an email, and attach the file. Each email client does this a different way, so it's hard to tell you just how to do it. There's probably a how-to somewhere in the email's help docs. But just attach the .doc/.rtf/whatever to the email, leave a short message in the email itself, and send it on its way.

Microsoft Word stores your documents in .doc(x) format by default. You need to attach the Word document containing your story to the email in your particular client and you're good to go.

If you get a copy of ODST, and all copies of ODST have the beta, it stands to reason you'll get the beta, yes. Wink

Hey, kab, what's the news on the maximum word count? We talked about it on page 2 or so, and I think we agreed to push it a bit over 6000, in which case, the HBO page should be updated. Maybe 7000 is a reasonable limit?

I think we're doing away with the wordcount, except for a suggestion to keep it under 7000. We don't want to stifle people's creativity.

Once we get everything codified, I'll email Wu to ask for an update.

Another question: The rules state there can only be one submission per person, but what if, for example, someone submits a story that has multiple chapters. Would he/she have to post all the chapters at once, or could they send them in separately?

How about you just send in a short story, instead of a war-epic?

Heh, I would suggest sending the chapters all together, and though it looks like we've removed the word cap, for the sake of our judges' eyes try to keep it under 7000 words or so if you can. Wink Just try to fit the best parts into the first couple chapters.

Of course, though Microsoft WordPad (available on all Microsoft OSs) might be easier to use. It'll be under Accessories.

On Windows, I'd suggest WordPad, AbiWord or OpenOffice.org Writer (remember with the last two you need to save them in a suitable format before sending them.)

If you're on a Macintosh, TextEdit (under /Applications) should be just fine: remember that Pages (in iWork) can save to .doc and .rtf format too. On Linux or another generic *nix (Solaris, a BSD derivative), use AbiWord or OpenOffice.org.

Actually, for Mac OSX I would recommend Bean. It's a light-weight processor that takes out some of the junk from MS Word but has more functionality than TextEdit.
